Our class trip to Cambridge was finally happening on Friday! I woke up early and felt extremely excited about the day. We met our friendly teacher Mrs Clarke at the school gates. My best friends Lily and Tom sat beside me on the coach. The journey took one hour through the beautiful green countryside.
Wow, the ancient city of Cambridge looked absolutely stunning! We walked slowly along the narrow cobbled streets together. The magnificent old college buildings stood proudly around us. Students on bicycles rode quickly past us everywhere. Mrs Clarke told us interesting facts about the famous university.
We arrived at the enormous and beautiful King's College Chapel. Oh my, the tall stained glass windows were truly incredible! A kind guide explained the chapel's history clearly and patiently. We sat quietly and listened to the choir singing beautifully. Lily and I took many photographs of the stunning ceiling.
After the chapel, we went punting on the famous River Cam. Tom tried to push the long wooden pole very carefully. Oh no, he lost his balance and nearly fell into the water! Everyone laughed loudly because it was so funny and surprising. We ate delicious sandwiches and cakes at a cosy riverside café.
We bought lovely souvenirs from the small gift shops nearby. Soon it was time to board the coach and head home. I felt tired but incredibly happy about our wonderful adventure. I told Mum and Dad everything about my exciting day out. I hope we can visit Cambridge again with our classmates soon!
